Contribute: How You Can Help

International Educational Services(IES) is committed to serving the needs of long-suffering Villagers in rural Ghana, West Africa. Our primary focus is on children and women, the most vulnerable and neglected members of the remote communities that we form long-term partnerships with.  Your help is greatly needed, as IES is a small non-profit organization dependent on the generosity of donors to help bring power to the powerless.  There are several ways that you can contribute to a leveling of the playing field between the haves and have-nots in this world.

International Educational Services (IES) is a registered non-profit organization exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Please send a parcel of books to students in Yabraso Village. English is the national language of Ghana, but children in remote areas lag behind those in the towns and cities due to a lack of reading  material.

Volunteer to offer a tiny piece of your time to personally visit a village in Ghana. In 1998, Karen and Stacey were part of a group that accompanied Natalie Gray, IES Director, to Ghana.  Our trip included a visit to Kogle Primary School in the Upper West Region, where we delivered books, sports equipment and educational games.  We also cleaned wounds caused by farming tools, such as cutlasses.  We travel to Ghana every year with no set timetable.

The first IES Batik Workshop is pictured here as it commences in front of an IES constructed junior high school in Kwabenya Village.  Although we have built one other school block, IES would like help from others to step up the construction rate to alleviate current over-crowding.

Contribute to the support of Daniel Ayamga and his family for one year. This photo was taken during our first visit to their home in 2006, a farm near Wenchi.

This proud man and his wife, Esther, are both completely blind, but, along with his mother, they maintain a ground nut farm for their meager income.

IES has come to their aid over the past two years-completely unsolicited-and now we would like additional help.  They need small sums of money for foodstuffs and clothing.

This is the Ayamga home before IES gave them some much-needed support. As shown below, we put a roof over their heads, repaired infrastructure and added furniture. The new bath facility and latrine are directly adjacent to the house, within easy reach for the sightless couple. Daniel's mother is sitting on their new well.

A single mattress was where the whole family used to sleep.  They now have two bedrooms with a full bed in each.  IES has also provided a cleaning woman who visits the Ayamgas once per week, insuring that they always have a clean home and food to eat.  IES Coordinator, Sylvester Addo Fosu visits the family every two weeks to deliver fresh food and to check up on their ongoing health issues. We will continue to upgrade the Ayamga living conditions indefinitely.

Daniel, on his groundnut farm. The whole family works on the farm, but it does not provide a decent enough income to sustain them.  We have made several trips to the hospital to obtain care for Daniel's mother and daughter. You can help us in a very small way.

Donate educational games to one village. This photo, taken in Kogle Village, Upper West Region of Ghana shows junior high students perusing new gifts.  We give games which foster thinking skills, such as Scrabble, Connect Four, Othello, Boggle.

Donate educational materials to children from kindergarten through junior high school.  In this photo, villagers in Yabraso come together to accept IES donation in 2007.

Donate much needed science equipment so students can get practical laboratory experience.  This junior high student in Yabraso is peering through an IES donated microscope.
